This week I started something new. It currently involves lots of driving, many new faces and many, many @’s and #’s…it’s a new job! This has been in the works for quite some time but I wanted it to be officially official before I told the internet. I’ve survived three days and haven’t cried yet so I think it’s safe to spill the beans!
As of Monday I am the Voice of Sierra behind the Sierra Trading Post Twitter. Yup, that is correct, my new job involves all things Twitter plus a few other projects just to keep things interesting. I just might be a little bit excited…and they wrote up a post about my arrival so I even feel kind of famous! And…I got legit headshots done by a photographer who knows his way around a camera and the Adobe Suite!
I am really excited to be working for a company that is the reason my living room is always a mess of gear – it is like the financial circle of life. I go to work, they pay me. I shop online, I pay them. A vicious circle that I’m kind of okay with!
One huge draw of this job was the people of Sierra Trading Post. Sure, the idea of day after day on Twitter sounds great (and like my real life…) but liking the people you spend those hours with is extremely important to me. Over the past few months I have been lucky enough to go 13’er hiking and winter camping with Chris and Andy. They are only half of the social team but, so far, they’ve turned out to be a fairly accurate sample!
Winter Camping in the Wyoming Snowy Range
There will be lots of commuting in the next few months but I’ll be working with two fairly cool dudes and a few other social media fanatics so I think I’ll survive. I’m stock piling audio books, fine tuning my patience for annoying drivers and stuffing my snack drawer (and car) full of goodies. It’s going to be an interesting transition and I’m pretty pumped about it!
So there you have it, my news! If you see a @sierratp tweet with an “-HK” it’s me! I’ll also start running the #STPLive chats come March so if you have ideas for topics or want to be a co-host hit me up!
:: Discount :: This is more related to the recent winter camping trip but it is related to Sierra Trading Post so…if you’re on a mission to buy some winter gear head over to Sierra Trading Post (with that link) and take an extra 30% off! It’s a pretty sweet deal, especially since this discount includes the Ortovox avalanche beacons and a few other items that don’t usually show up with the “extra ##% off” deals!
