In case the internet was wondering…I survived the Quad Rock 50M race on Saturday! I was out there playing on the trails, trekking my butt up hills and running the very welcomed rain for just 15 minutes shy of 13 hours, which I am incredibly happy with!
It was everything I expected, minus that endless miles of misery and self hatred. Yes, the miles were hard. Yes, I invented new swear words when the relentless hills of wobbly rock kept going up, up, up. Yes, my legs to tired.
However, I never wanted to give up and I never thought cruel, murderous thoughts of the crazies whose encouragement got me to the start line. I never had the chance, it never got that bad. Which means I’m still waiting to get my butt kicked by a race, which is terrifying!
The volunteers, spectators and other runners out on the course were absolutely amazing! Seriously, they kept me going  with smiles, laughter and bundles of positivity before I even knew I needed it. I wish I had paid more attention to names, they were all incredible!
I’ll be back shortly with stories of the miles and especially the people, just as soon as I figure out how to put it into [semi] interesting words! I’m beginning to think running the 50 miles was easier than recapping it will be!
A huge thank you to everyone for the encouragement via tweet, text, mental mojo, happy thoughts, etc! I felt so special seeing my phone blow up when I pulled it out of airplane mode, so thank you for thinking of me on Saturday and for being so positive along the way!

WAY TO GO!!!!!! So excited for you to reach your goal. (Also excited that the race was Saturday and not Sunday, as I had been thinking on Friday, or you would have had awful weather.)
Thanks!
And no kidding — Sunday’s weather would have been quite the wrench thrown in my plans!
So happy for your amazing race! I am just sitting down to try to recap mine - but really, I am not sure if words can describe the experience. One thing I do know - I would do it again sometime - which is a real surprising revelation that I knew even before I crossed the finish line.
Thanks for the motivation along the way - I enjoyed receiving your texts and all the others throughout the 50 (point 1!) miles. 🙂
It was so great to have texts waiting for me. I’d see a massive hill and be all “ooh, no I can walk and check with Kier!”, so thank you!
I have no idea how to put it into words and keep it interesting to the rest of the world. So much happened that I want to remember, but then I’d end up with a 8,000 word post!
Whooo hoooo!! HUGE congrats! Can’t wait to read all about it and to drool over all of your other running adventures this summer!
Thanks!
We’re going to rock at life with the 4 Pass Loop — I’ve been talking about it and the people who’ve done it love it!
It’s going to be epic. I’m 10000% more excited for that than my 50M coming up, ha.
YES! Be excited about your 50M, it’s an incredible experience and worth every step!
Woohoo!!
Thank you!
You’ve done double race weekends, right? When are you hitting up ultras! 😉
Congrats!! I can’t wait to read the detailed recap. Also, thank goodness it was Saturday and not Sunday… could you imagine running 50 miles in that weather?!
Thank you!
Sunday would have been…interesting! Probably would have still survived but those cutoffs would have been staring me down! So thankful for Saturday’s weather!
congrats girl!
Thank you! 🙂
YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!
Congratulations! We knew you could do it 🙂
Thank you! And thanks for all the faith in my crazy ideas! 🙂
Congrats!!! So happy you had a successful race and finished strong. Now I guess 100 miles better look out… Because here Heidi comes! 🙂
Thank you! I thought about you, a lot, with your race! Fingers crossed for a 100M half as good as this 50M!
Congratulations!! Amazing!! I can’t wait to read more details!!
Thank you!
I *might* eventually get a recap up. It’s really hard to write…I think I’m still digesting it!
13 hours?? You crazy! Congrats on this big notch in your belt! 🙂
Thank you so much! My belt definitely earned the notch…now for the next one… 😉
I never had any doubt 🙂 So proud of you!
Thank you!
And I have no doubt you’d do amazing at the Steamboat Stinger Marathon…just saying! 😉
But seriously, I totally believe you’ll rock the socks off any marathon you do! You’re doing amazing with your running!
I googeld it today 🙂 Since it’s the weekend after the relay, I can’t do it this year (I don’t have enough time left to train anyway!), but MAYBE next year!
You Google’d it…that is enough to make me happy!
