I’ve been in Mexico for…two weeks? In that nugget of time it feels like I’ve seen a tiny bit of everything Mexico has to offer, so far. I say “so far” because I still have a full month of wandering left to do. My Spanish isn’t getting much better but I am getting more confident in using it. There’s no way around it — I stick out like a sore thumb here so the locals are quick to humor my attempts at communicating with them!

I’m wandered busy city streets.
I’ve made perplexed faces at cultural sites.
I’ve worked a consistent-ish schedule.

I’ve hiked above 14,000 feet multiple times.
I’ve waited out a thundering snow storm at 15,200 feet.
I’ve woke up to a sunbathed glacier after a night in a bivy at 14,000 feet.

I’ve gotten my butt kicked by altitude, in humbling ways I did not enjoy.
I’ve crossfit’ed rocks off a 4WD trail to make room for a 2WD car.
I’ve eaten tacos nearly every day. And ice cream.

I’ve had the standard “ahhh, I’m all alone” freak out + survived it just fine.
I’ve discovered a sleepy surf town…and rediscovered humidity.
I’ve laid on a beach reading a trashy romance novel.

I’ve attempted SUP’ing…on a surf beach…without dying.
I’ve discovered golden sand, on the beach + everywhere else I’ve touched.
…and, I’ve managed to create a kinda, sorta, maybe plan for my next four weeks here.

Obviously, I have stories to tell + photos to share, which I promise to get around to…eventually. Until then, know that all of my weird is intact, my tummy is full of local deliciousness, I’m still gainfully employed + my sense of adventure is doing a fine job of burying the random bouts of loneliness that always accompany solo travel. All in all, I’m really happy with how this little Mexican wandering is going for me — I had no idea Mexico had so much to offer, in my little mind it was just beaches. Not that these beaches are a bad thing…said the adamant mountain girl. Hm.

It’s a blast…I just really need to work on my Spanish! Or get more confident using it?

This sounds like such a glorious setup. I’m a beach girl myself, so this sounds like paradise for sure. Can’t wait to hear more of your stories. 🙂

Ha. It’s not bad…I’m working in the afternoons, beach’ing in the mornings. I really can’t complain. 🙂
