I’m about to fly off the grid, literally. Tomorrow I’m headed to South America for two weeks of exploring in the Patagonia region of Chile. This entire trip was a crazy idea thought up by Logan and it’s actually happening! I’m going to another country, to run/hike/explore…just because I can!

I am semi-packed [do you have any idea how much space food takes?!] and mostly prepared. The “where you can find me if I don’t return” email is about to go out to a few special enablers and my game plan is kind of, sort of planned. I’m excited. I’m terrified. But most importantly…I’m ready to be 110% off the grid for two full weeks. Oh, and I hear the scenery is going to be pretty darn spectacular!

We’re flying into Punta Arenas then catching a bus up to the Torres del Paine National Park for 5+ days of fastpacking and day tripping. While in Torres del Paine we’ll be covering 15-20 miles a day then using our cushion “just in case” days for shorter explorations in the area. On our way out of Torres del Paine we’ll split up – I’ll be making my way back to Punta Arenas with a few random expeditions along before I return to reality the way while Logan continues north to finish off the month with more exploring in the mountains of Chile.

I’ll spend two weeks living out of the Ultimate Direction Fastpack 30L and had big plans to kick off my trip with a packing list + more detailed itinerary. However…none of that “this is what we planned” information is very informative until after we’ve tested out the validity of our check lists and scribbled schedules. So, instead…I leave you with nothing but a few photos of what I hope to experience and a “catchya on the flip side” farewell for the next few weeks!

Curious about what we’ll see? Check out Seth’s posts [where I kidnapped the above photos from!] from his trip last February!

Have a great trip! This area is on the top of my list…and now that my sister is moving back to MN from Sweden, I should be able to fly a different direction and head south instead of east. 🙂

Can’t wait to hear all about it!!

I’m excited — it’s my first “real” international trip because study abroad doesn’t quite count!

And you’ll have someone to drag along for your long flights! I’ll be sure to take enough photos to make you book a trip! 🙂

You are amazing. As I get older I get more terrified, and you just seem to get more brave and awesome. Love reading about all your adventures and seeing your photos!

Thank you! I figured I’m only running out of time to go crazy and explore! A few photos are up now…but there will be many more, soon!
