Desert Bound + Ditching Domestic Endeavors

I’m headed off to chase some sunshine around the Utah desert. On Friday I’ll be driving out to Moab to volunteer at the Moab 200 Mile Ultra race + the Mad Moose Events Canyonlands Other Half race for a long weekend of sand + sun. After I recoup from the sleepless nights + a long run of sweeping the Moab 200 course I’m headed further west. My destination is Capital Reef, for another long weekend of arches + pillars in the middle of the desert.

Oh, Hey There…Winter?!

Looks like winter has arrived…sort of? I don’t remember when snow first showed up last season, but I do know I was hiking well above 11,000 feet in November wearing a tank top on a nearly snow-free trail! Maybe winter is actually arriving early this year?! Because it’s here! Of course, it won’t stick around as it’s already melting, but we got a nice little taste of winter this weekend…right after we soaked up miles of fall. We’re in the midst of one of Mother Nature’s full-blown mood swings! Don’t believe me? Here’s a peek at the last four days here in Silverthorne…

Okay, so that’s not the most important thing happening in my life right now, but it will be my rebuttal to any agreement presented to me for the next 31 days. You’ve been warned. Leaf Peeping // Fall Colors

Tis the season…of fall colors. While I’ll always talk about missing the reds + oranges of the Midwest there is no denying the beauty of the Colorado yellows. It may not be the end of September yet, but we’ve already woken up to snow-topped peaks on the horizon more than once. I’ve even had the pleasure of driving over a snowy mountain pass already…so. not. ready.
